Why I do what I do: I want to see people and organizations succeed—to become and accomplish what they truly desire. That often requires making meaningful and lasting change.
Professionally
I work in higher education as both an instructor and instructional designer. I am completing my PhD in Career and Technical Education at Utah State University, where my research focuses on online learning, student engagement, and organizational change.
Beyond the classroom, I consult with purpose-driven organizations, helping them define their mission, sharpen their strategy, and develop tactics that extend their reach and increase their impact. You can see some of this work through Digital Cairns.
Strategy
I create strategy by connecting vision to action—clarifying purpose, defining goals, and mapping the path forward. In higher education, that may mean aligning curriculum with student learning outcomes and institutional priorities. In business, it might involve developing brand positioning or long-term growth plans. At its core, my approach to strategy is about helping people and organizations stay focused on why they do what they do and where they want to go.
Tactics
I develop tactics that make success possible. These are the practical steps that turn big ideas into meaningful results. In education, that might look like designing assignments that foster engagement, adopting the right learning technologies, or rethinking how a course is delivered. In business, it could mean crafting a targeted marketing campaign, refining content, or improving workflows to increase impact. I believe the right tactics make strategy achievable—and sustainable.

Board Games
Everyone needs a hobby. Mine, I collect board games and play them when I can. Saturday nights are usually Game Nights around our house. New Years Eve and New Years Day are for gaming. Also there are once or twice a year Game Weekends though I am thinking this needs to evolve into Game Week. Check out MovingMeeples for more about me and this hobby.
Faith
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I will discuss matters of belief, faith, prayer, fasting, obedience, and more. To learn more about God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Ghost, the Atonement, Repentance, and Forgiveness the Church of Jesus Christ is an excellent resource.
